Aussie Wazza revoltionises online recruitment

April 23rd, 2007

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRISBANE 10.00AM SUNDAY 22 APRIL 07

A groundbreaking new Australian-developed website, WWW.WAZZA.COM, is changing the face of online recruitment!

Unlike traditional online employment services, WAZZA.COM provides a portal for resumes rather than job advertisements.

With its fresh approach and world-first technology, WAZZA.COM is taking the stress out of employment through offering FREE resume placement for job seekers and FREE access for employers. Co-founder David Aplin said WAZZA.COM’s user-friendly online recruitment tools equally benefited job seekers and employers.

“Employers can search WAZZA.COM’s resume database and request applications from only the job seekers that meet specified criteria,” he said.

“This approach saves job seekers unnecessary time and energy in not having to apply for positions they have no chance of getting; while allowing employers to be proactive in their recruitment, rather than relying on traditional job boards and hoping for the best!”

World-first technology

WAZZA.COM offers world-first online resume services including video resumes, a “call/SMS me” web-activated telephone system that allows immediate contact between employers and job seekers, and a “pay-per-click” option for job seekers wanting to advertise their resumes on Google and other search engines.

Of course, this is in addition to WAZZA.COM’s extensive database capacity, detailed search criteria, user-friendly resume wizard and commitment to maintaining job seeker privacy!

I’ll have my WAZZA well done, please!

WAZZA.COM is the brainchild of an unlikely team of Brisbane businessmen. Heavy industry parts and services supplier David Aplin, builder Ian Rauber and website consultant Adam Remar developed the idea during a family barbecue.…and the rest, as they say, is (will be) history!

Ends.

Bright Future

April 19th, 2007

One of the most commented integrations into the Wazza website is our web-activated telephone system.  While this technology has been around for a little while now the fact that we have used it as more than just a ‘Contact Us’ button is what has had people talking.  We decided early on that for our system to really benefit job seekers they would need to be able to retain their anonymity.  From this came the idea of using click-to-call technology as a means for an employer to contact a job seeker instantly without ever discovering the job seekers identity.

Our search for service providers was very thorough.  We began by contacting service providers one by one but after weeks of continued frustration we decided to do a mass mail-out and contact all the reputable service providers we could find.  In all we contacted over 200 different providers throughout Australia and internationally.  The responses (other than the number of providers who didn’t respond at all) weren’t staggering to say the least.  In fact many providers simply treated our idea with disdain.

Then came Jajah.com.  Jajah (based in Mountain View California) was still in its first year of operation yet they enthusiaticly greeted the partnership.  While most international providers gave Australia very little notice the co-operation we received from Jajah to improve call quality was very encouraging.  Our developers worked side by side with developers from Jajah to build a system that would enable employers to contact job seekers via click to call telephony and Web SMS text messaging.

About Jajah
JAJAH is a new type of phone company. We are dedicated to providing our customers with phone calls at a better price. It’s that simple. “The internet has touched us all. It’s changed the way we do everyday things. It’s changed the way we stay informed, the way we shop for the products we want, even the way we find and listen to music. In the same way, JAJAH will change the way we all use the telephone”.

In business your partners are almost as essential to your success as you are.  When a great partnership is struck between companies with mutual respect it just makes things that little bit easier.  In our own way we hope to do the same for employers and recruiters.  If we can make business for them that little bit easier then we have done our job.

Thanks for reading.

Would you have stopped?

April 15th, 2007

Seth Godin has a great blog that every business owner should read.  It’s full of little gems that can help give you as the business owner a greater understanding of what you should be doing to grow your business.  In a post from the other day he talks about an experiment run by The Washington Post to see if anyone would take any extra notice of someone busking in a subway station if they happened to be one of the top violinists in the world.  Instead of trying to relay Seth’s post I have included it below.

“I got more mail about this story in the Washington Post than any other non-blog topic ever. I saw it when it first came out, but didn’t blog it because I thought the lesson was pretty obvious to my readers. [World-class violinist plays for hours in a subway station, almost no one stops to listen]. The experiment just proved what we already know about context, permission and worldview. If your worldview is that music in the subway isn’t worth your time, you’re not going to notice when the music is better than usual (or when a famous violinist is playing). It doesn’t match the story you tell yourself, so you ignore it. Without permission to get through to you, the marketer/violinist is invisible.

But why all the mail? (And the Post got plenty too). Answer: I think it’s because people realized that if they had been there, they would have done the same thing. And it bothers us.

It bothers us that we’re so overwhelmed by the din of our lives that we’ve created a worldview that requires us to ignore the outside world, most of the time, even when we suffer because of it. It made me feel a little smaller, knowing that something so beautiful was ignored because the marketers among us have created so much noise and so little trust.

I don’t think the answer is to yell louder. Instead, I think we have an opportunity to create beauty and genius and insight and offer it in ways that train people to maybe, just maybe, loosen up those worldviews and begin the trust.”

Thanks for the post Seth.

And thanks for reading.
Adam.

Better Late Than Never!

April 15th, 2007

Well it’s been a hectic few weeks to say the least.  Anytime you launch a business there are always going to be challenges to overcome to make it happen and here at Wazza.com we have certainly had our share.  This is not necessarily a bad thing, in fact for us every obstacle has actually led to a greater benefit.  We can’t tell you the amount of times we were told that something was not going to work and then this something became the very thing that opened up a door to new opportunities.  That’s business you have to role with the punches, look for the silver lining so to speak.

Don’t let me fool you otherwise the journey has only just began.  We don’t for a minute think that the hard part is over.  The hardest part is well and truly ahead of us.  There are some terrific companies running in our industry with huge communities of users and marketing budgets that we couldn’t even dream about.  Add on top of that the fact that new businesses in our industry are coming out of the wood work at the moment and you can see we definitely have our work cut out for us.

Why Wazza is different

We’re not concerned though and here’s why:
We believe that when it all boils down to it just like every other business a business based on the internet is all about customer service.  No big surprise there.  Everyone preaches it but so few do it.  So how are we different?  Simple.  While almost every other website in our industry is geared towards Recruiters and Big time employers Wazza is all about the individual.  The average everyday person that actually makes Australia tick.  One look at our site and you can see this.  It’s in our branding, it’s in our website’s content and it’s in our business model.  Wazza is about the individual.  The Job Seeker who is sick and tired of running all over town applying for jobs the old fashioned way, the small business employer who doesn’t have a HR department or the excess funds to fork out the hefty fee most recruiters charge these days and maybe even the small recruitment companies who are just starting up or are keen to build there business.

Now if we were out for the big bucks we would be like everyone else and target ourserlves to the Big End of Town but how would that change anything?  Furthermore would we really be helping anyone outside of ourselves?  Just as always the little guy is forced to try and fit in with what suits large companies and recruiters.

So Wazza.com is here and here to stay.  Our goal is to simplify the process for Job Seekers to find a great job and for Employers to find great staff.  We promise to always keep the everyday people as our main focus.  Now we are by no means perfect at doing this so if anyone ever has a suggestion or comment whether it be about a service we should offer or a service we aren’t delivering as well as we should then don’t hesitate to get in touch with us and let us know.  We love every piece of genuine feedback we can get.  Afterall we are only a young company and know that we don’t have all the answers all of the time.

Let me leave you with this one last thought.  It is a quote from well known American Sales author and lecturer Zig Ziglar:

“You can get anything you want in this world if you just help enough other people get what they want!”

Thanks
Adam.
